I saw MTG's production of Jesus Christ Superstar last night. It was good. I've always liked JCS; as
zacheiss points out, the source material (both bible and music) is good.
I think I'd like it even devoid of historical and religious context. It's a flowing series of captivating events heading to an inevitable conclusion. As you are drawn into the characters, a static system of motivations and beliefs emerges. Everyone makes sense. It goes beyond right and wrong; people are just acting as they are.
